Alright, so today I'm gonna talk about my little adventure with the Taboo series DVD. It’s one of those shows, you know, that you hear whispers about, and then it kinda sticks in your head. For me, it was Tom Hardy, plain and simple. I’d seen him in other stuff, and folks were saying this role was something else entirely.
Getting My Hands on It
So, I decided I wanted to watch it, but not just stream it. I'm a bit old-school sometimes, I like having the physical copy. Call me sentimental, but there’s something about a DVD on the shelf. The hunt began. You'd think finding a DVD these days would be easy, but sometimes it’s a bit of a dig. I checked a few online spots, then remembered a local shop I used to go to. Popped in there, and sure enough, after a bit of searching through their drama section, there it was. Felt like a small victory, honestly.
I got home, pretty chuffed with my find. Made myself a cup of tea, settled in. The thing with DVDs, for me, is the whole ritual. Taking off the plastic wrap, opening the case, looking at the disc art, if there is any worth looking at. This one was pretty standard, nothing too fancy, but still, it was the anticipation, you know?

The Watching Experience
So, I put the first disc in. My DVD player is an old workhorse, still chugging along. The opening scenes, the atmosphere… it just pulled me right in. I’d planned to watch maybe an episode or two that first night. Well, that didn’t happen. I think I ploughed through half the series before I realised what time it was. It’s gritty, dark, and Hardy is just magnetic. You can’t really look away.
The next day, I was itching to get back to it. Finished the whole thing pretty quick. It’s not a long series, which I sometimes prefer. Gets straight to the point. The sound, the picture quality on the DVD – it was perfectly fine for me. No buffering, no internet dropouts, just the story unfolding. That’s a big plus for physical media, I reckon.
- First step: Heard about the show, got curious.
- Next: Decided I wanted the physical DVD, not just a stream.
- Then: Actually went out and hunted it down. Found it locally.
- Finally: Sat down and properly binged the whole thing.
And that was my journey with the Taboo DVD. It wasn't some grand quest, but it was satisfying. From hearing about it, to actually holding the case, and then getting lost in that world. Sometimes it’s the simple things. Now it sits on my shelf, and I know I can pull it out and watch it again whenever I fancy, no subscriptions needed. That’s a good feeling.
