Then, I did a quick mental check. "Am I missing any obvious ones?" You know how it is, sometimes the biggest titles are the ones you forget to write down because you just assume they're there. I wasn't aiming for an absolutely exhaustive, academic list, more like a "greatest hits" or "most impactful" from my perspective. What really defined that era for Black movies?
I didn't really use any online lists to build mine initially, 'cause I wanted it to be organic, from my own recall and feelings. It's more personal that way.
