Oh, that Hwy 71 wreck, yeah, heard about that. Real mess, it was. Lots of cars smashed up, sirens wailing all over the place. Terrible thing, these wrecks. Just terrible.
Seems like every time you turn on the TV or listen to the radio, there’s another wreck on Hwy 71. Cars goin’ too fast, people not payin’ attention, who knows. Just a lot of bangin’ and crashin’ and folks gettin’ hurt.
- Lots of folks gettin’ hurt. Don’t know what’s wrong with people these days. Always in a hurry, I guess. Gotta get somewhere fast, don’t matter who they run over gettin’ there.
- Cars just smashed up somethin’ awful. Seen pictures in the paper. Twisted metal, glass everywhere. Makes you think, you know? Makes you think about your own drivin’.
My grandson, he drives that Hwy 71 sometimes. I tell him, “You be careful now, you hear?” He says, “Grandma, I’m a good driver.” But I still worry. He’s a good boy, but you never know what other folks on the road are gonna do. One crazy driver, that’s all it takes.
They need to do somethin’ about that road, I tell ya. Put up more signs, maybe. Or more police out there catchin’ speeders. Something. Just gotta stop all these wrecks. Breaks my heart, it does, hearin’ about all the folks gettin’ hurt and killed.
Heard they had to close down the road for a while after that wreck. Traffic backed up for miles, folks stuck in their cars. Imagine that. Just sittin’ there, waitin’, wonderin’ what happened. Probably a lot of folks missin’ appointments, bein’ late for work. All because of that wreck.
Makes you think about life, you know? One minute you’re drivin’ along, mindin’ your own business, and the next… bam! Life can change in a second. Just like that. Makes you appreciate what you got, that’s for sure.
Hope everyone involved in that Hwy 71 wreck is gonna be alright. Hope their families are gettin’ through it okay. Must be awful hard, dealin’ with somethin’ like that. Prayers for ’em, that’s what they need. Prayers and maybe some help from folks around ’em.
This world’s a crazy place sometimes. Just gotta be careful out there, you know? Look out for yourself and look out for others. And maybe, just maybe, we can avoid some of these terrible wrecks on Hwy 71 and other roads too.
So next time you’re drivin’, remember that wreck. Remember the folks who got hurt. And slow down, pay attention, and drive safe. ‘Cause you never know what might happen. You just never know.
