Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here football thing. It’s about them Lake Travis and Westlake boys, fightin’ over that pigskin. I ain’t no expert, but I seen a game or two.
Now, these Lake Travis and Westlake teams, they say they’re real good. Always fightin’ and such. They call it “Battle of the Lakes,” or some such nonsense. Sounds fancy, but it’s just kids runnin’ around, tryin’ to get that ball.
Heard somethin’ ’bout Westlake winnin’ again. That makes, what, five times in a row? Them boys sure are somethin’ else. Scored a bunch, and that other fella, Livengood, he run that ball all the way back. Eighty-two yards, they said. That’s a long way, even for a youngun.
Them Westlake Chaps, they call ’em. Real scrappy bunch. Beat them Lake Travis Cavaliers 28 to 16. Now, them Cavaliers, they ain’t too shabby neither. Got a fella, Thomas, catchin’ balls from Ditta. Scored a bunch against Round Rock. But ain’t no match for Westlake, I reckon.
- The game was at Lake Travis High School. Fancy place, they say. Lot of people watchin’.
- Westlake’s win streak keeps goin’. Five straight times they beat Lake Travis.
- Livengood’s punt return, 82 yards. That’s gotta be some kinda record.
Now, I don’t rightly know all them rules and such. But I know when I see a good game. And this here one, Westlake against Lake Travis, it was a good ‘un. Folks yellin’, cheerin’, all that jazz.
Heard they was ranked too. Westlake, number twelve, and Lake Travis, number six. Then they played, and Westlake won. Guess them rankings don’t mean much, do they? Just numbers on a paper.
These schools, they been fightin’ for years. Winnin’ championships and such. State titles, they call ’em. Since 2007, they got nine between ’em. That’s a lot of winnin’, if you ask me. These kids sure are somethin’ else.
Lake Travis High School, it’s a big school, they say. Lots of kids, learnin’ all sorts of fancy stuff. Advanced Placement, they call it. Don’t know what that is, but sounds important. Maybe that helps ’em on the football field, who knows?
This game, it was a playoff. Regional final, somethin’ like that. Big deal, I reckon. Winner moves on, loser goes home. Westlake, they movin’ on. Them Lake Travis boys, they gotta wait ’til next year.
Heard it was on TV, too. NFHS Network, they called it. Don’t know what channel that is. Never had none of that fancy cable stuff. Just good ol’ antenna for me.
So, that’s the story, as best I can tell ya. Westlake won, Lake Travis lost. Another chapter in their long fight. Good game, I reckon. Lots of excitin’ moments. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
