Okay, so I got curious, right? About September 14, 2010. What a specific, random day to get stuck on. But once the thought was there, I had to see what music dropped. It's funny how a simple date can send you down a rabbit hole. I was actually just tidying up some old computer files, stumbled across a folder with that date, and boom, curiosity hit.
So, what tunes actually hit the scene that Tuesday?
I did what we all do, hit up the internet to see what was what. Wasn't expecting a massive list, but you'd be surprised. Music doesn't really take a day off, does it?
One of the first things that jumped out was Linkin Park. Their album A Thousand Suns was making waves right then, officially out in the US on the 14th. I remember 'The Catalyst' being the lead single. That album definitely felt like a shift for them, a lot more electronic than their older stuff.
Then there was Trey Songz. He dropped an album called Passion, Pain & Pleasure on that very day. And of course, the track that pretty much everyone knew from it was 'Bottoms Up' with Nicki Minaj. That song was inescapable for a while there. Nicki was really starting to take over around that time, too.
I also found out that Brandon Flowers – yeah, the main dude from The Killers – released his solo debut, Flamingo, on September 14th in the States. 'Crossfire' was the big song from that one, if I recall. It’s always a bit of a moment when a frontman steps out on their own, you kind of wonder what they've been holding back.
And it wasn't just those guys. My little dig turned up a few other albums that officially saw the light of day on September 14, 2010:
- Robert Plant released Band of Joy. Pretty cool to see a legend like him still putting out fresh music.
- Weezer also had an album out, Hurley. You can pretty much always count on Weezer to be doing something.
- An indie band I vaguely remember, Of Montreal, dropped False Priest.
- And for the funk fans, Chromeo put out Business Casual. Those guys always had a slick groove.
It's pretty wild to think about, isn't it? Just a regular Tuesday, more than a decade gone now, and all this new music was landing. People were hearing these songs for the first time, maybe making memories with them. Who knows?
For me, this whole lookup was just a small diversion, a way to satisfy a fleeting thought. Didn't uncover any lost treasures or anything, but it's a neat reminder that every day has its own soundtrack being written. And hey, now if that specific date ever comes up in a quiz, I’m sorted.
