Mansfield Timberview Girls Basketball: 2024 UIL State Championship Journey

Well, I tell ya, these young gals on the Mansfield Timberview girls basketball team, they sure do know how to play ball! I been watchin’ ’em for a good while now, and let me tell ya, it ain’t no easy thing to get to the top in that kind of game. These girls, they got heart, and they got grit, just like when we used to chase chickens around the yard, except now they’re runnin’ up and down that court like nobody’s business.

Now, Mansfield Timberview, that’s a name people talk about all around here. The Lady Wolves, as they call ‘em, are one tough bunch. Last season, they made it all the way to the 5A UIL Girls State Basketball Championship. I reckon a lot of folks was thinkin’ they’d win it all, but, well, they got beat by Frisco Liberty in the final game. It was close though—51 to 60, I think. Still, gettin’ to that championship game, well, that’s a mighty fine achievement, if you ask me.

The team’s coach, Kit Kyle Martin, he’s been with them a long time. Ain’t no stranger to the court, that one. He got the girls in tip-top shape and ready to face anyone who comes their way. He’s got a good bunch of assistant coaches too, folks like Gabe Hicks, Karen Lee, and Jeremy Walker. They all work hard together to get those girls in their best form, and I tell ya, it shows!

There’s somethin’ special about the Timberview girls, though. I remember a game not too long ago where they were down by 13 points in the first half to South Grand Prairie. Now, most teams woulda just thrown in the towel and given up, but not the Timberview girls! They fought back, pulled themselves together, and ended up winin’ the whole thing at the Spring Creek Barbecue Invitational. That kind of determination is somethin’ you don’t see every day, let me tell ya.

And it ain’t just about the games they win. It’s about the spirit, the teamwork, and the heart that these girls bring to the court. You can see it in the way they play, always supportin’ each other, always pushin’ through, no matter how tough it gets. That’s what I call real sportsmanship, not just the score on the board.

Now, I ain’t sayin’ they’re perfect, of course. Ain’t nobody perfect. They’ve had their struggles, like any team. But they keep workin’ on it, keep pushin’, keep fightin’. That’s the thing with these Timberview girls: they never quit. I reckon that’s why so many people are rootin’ for ‘em every time they hit the court.

They say next season’s lookin’ bright for ‘em too. With the team all riled up and ready to go, I’m sure they’ll be back at it, givin’ it their all again. Who knows? Maybe this time, they’ll bring that state championship trophy home to Mansfield where it belongs.

Now, if you ask me, we all oughta be proud of these girls. They’re showin’ the young ones what it means to work hard, to have discipline, and to never back down. It’s not just about basketball; it’s about life. And these young gals, they got it figured out. So, whether they win or lose, they’ll always be champions in my book.

So keep an eye on ‘em, folks. The Mansfield Timberview girls basketball team? They ain’t done yet. They got more fight left in ‘em than a rooster in a henhouse!
