Well now, let me tell ya, somethin’ real strange happened at that College World Series game. Two fans, wearing them Texas A&M shirts, got kicked outta the stadium after they started actin’ up real bad. Now, I don’t know what in tarnation got into ’em, but they sure made a ruckus. It all happened at a game between Texas A&M and Florida, and I reckon it wasn’t the kind of drama you expect at a ballgame.
It all started when these two fellas, who looked like they had come down from the Texas plains, started yellin’ insults at the Florida Gators’ dugout. And not just any insults, mind you – they were makin’ some awful comments about the Florida coach, Kevin O’Sullivan. Now, it turns out, them comments weren’t about his skills as a coach or anything like that. No, they were about some personal stuff that had happened a couple years back. In fact, they were talkin’ ’bout a tragedy that hit the Florida community in May 2021, when two young boys, Rex and Brody Reinhart, died in a sad murder-suicide situation. Real messy, awful stuff.
Well, I suppose them Texas A&M fans thought it’d be funny to bring that up, but let me tell ya, it wasn’t. Not one bit. It’s bad enough to bring up somethin’ like that in regular conversation, but to use it as a weapon in a ballgame? That’s a low blow, if ya ask me. The Florida coach, Kevin O’Sullivan, he didn’t take too kindly to it either. So, after a few more comments were thrown around, them two Texas A&M fans were shown the door. Outta there they went, just like that.
Now, the folks who run the College World Series, they don’t mess around with this kinda thing. The officials and the security folks, they made it clear – no heckling like that’s gonna be allowed. When they caught wind of what was happenin’, they took them fans outta the stadium faster than a jackrabbit in a dust storm. And you know, I’m not surprised. In fact, it’s good to see the powers-that-be stick up for decency like that. Some things just shouldn’t be joked about, and that was one of ’em.
After the game, Jim Schlossnagle, the coach for Texas A&M, came out and spoke to the reporters. He wasn’t too pleased about what had happened. He said, “If they can’t behave themselves, then don’t come back.” And I reckon that’s a fair enough statement. Folks need to learn to act right, especially at such a big event like the College World Series. There’s no place for that kind of behavior. Ain’t no reason to drag up the past and hurt folks who’ve already been through a terrible time.
It’s a real shame when something like this happens, ’cause it’s supposed to be a celebration of baseball, not a chance for folks to start stirrin’ up trouble. Both teams were out there playin’ their hearts out, tryin’ to win, and then here come these two troublemakers, just messin’ up the whole vibe. It’s a good thing that the officials acted fast and didn’t let things get any worse.
So, for all ya’ll who might think about doin’ somethin’ like that at a game, let me tell ya: It ain’t worth it. Whether it’s a ballgame or somethin’ else, there’s no reason to be nasty like that. Sports are about good clean fun, a little friendly competition, and respect. And if you can’t do that, well, you’ll just end up like them two fellas – gettin’ booted outta the game and lookin’ foolish.
Let’s hope we don’t see any more of that nonsense as the rest of the College World Series plays out. I know I’m just here watchin’, but I reckon most folks just want to see some good baseball, not hearin’ insults and rude comments flyin’ around. We got enough of that in the world already, don’t we?
