I reckon they got folks in there who know how to talk to them kids, help ’em see what’s gone wrong in their lives and how to make it better.
The day ain’t just all about studyin’ though. They got chores and exercises too. Yup, they gotta stay busy, make sure they ain’t got no time to just sit around and stew in their thoughts. They do cleanin’, and some of ’em even get to learn a trade or skill while they’re in there. But don’t go thinkin’ it’s a fun time for them. It’s work, just like a regular job. They gotta earn everything they get, whether it’s their meals or their time for rest.
And don’t even think ‘bout gettin’ no extra sleep. There ain’t no naps for them kids. Once the day is over, they get a quick dinner—again, nothing fancy—and then it’s back to their cells to get some rest, if you can call it that. They got a bed, but it ain’t like home. Ain’t no cozy comfort there, just the basics to get ’em through the night so they can start all over again in the morning.
Some folks say this kinda life is necessary, that them kids need the structure to straighten up. But others, well, they don’t always agree. Some think maybe it’s too harsh, that the kids should be shown more care and kindness. Ain’t no easy answer to that. It’s a hard road for any young’un, but maybe if they learn the right lessons, they can turn things around.
Now, let’s talk about how they spend their time. Ain’t all bad, though. They got recreational time, a chance to get outside and stretch their legs. Ain’t no football games or anything like that, but sometimes they can play simple games like basketball or run ‘round the yard. Gotta get some fresh air, right?
